About Us

A research-driven guide to backyard heat, water, and steam.

Outdoor Ember is a review and buying-guide site for the equipment that makes a backyard work: patio heating, pool care, and home saunas, steam rooms, and hot tubs. It was founded in 2026 and is run by a small editorial team.

We write for people making real equipment decisions — often four-figure ones — who want the facts compared plainly before they buy. No hype, no inflated claims, no manufactured urgency.

What we cover

Every buying guide we publish is collected under Reviews.

How we work

Our recommendations are built from manufacturer specifications, official documentation, and verified owner experience — not hands-on testing.

For every product we cover, we read the specification sheets and manuals, compare stated capacities, materials, and warranty terms, and study large volumes of verified owner reviews to see how equipment actually holds up over seasons of use. Where owners consistently report a problem — a liner that fades, a heater that struggles in wind, a vacuum that clogs — we weigh that heavily, whatever the marketing says.

We do not claim to have personally used every product we write about. When the available evidence on a product is thin, we say so rather than papering over the gap. We also revisit guides when models are discontinued, revised, or overtaken by better options.

How this site is funded

Outdoor Ember is reader-supported. When you buy through links on this site, we may earn an affiliate commission — primarily through the Amazon Associates program — at no additional cost to you. Commissions keep the site running; they do not decide what we recommend. Products earn their place in our guides on the strength of the research, and a product with no affiliate program is treated the same as one with a generous commission.

The full details are in our Affiliate Disclosure.
